So too the Kickstarter campaign that funded a re-issue a few years back now I love so much about this series but Im torn when it comes to rating Gunsmith Cats.

This was a little experiment to see how well a comicmanga could be conveyed by video with appropriate background musicIf you have not read Gunsmith Cats t. Gunsmith Cats is about the exploits of the owner of a Gun shop in Chicago. Its a rousing intricate story that is always building to a climax and its centered around a wonderful pair of complex capable heroines.

The story centers on two young women 19-year old Irene Rally Vincent and her partner 17-year old Minnie May Hopkins. Of note to fans of the manga Bean Bandit does not show up in this series a good thing in my personal opinion. This 1995 OVA rather then start adapting the manga from page 1 or choosing the very best of Sonodas stories decided to create an anime original plot.

Rally Vincent has a penchant for guns. The only drawback was Dark Horse policy of flipping the art to conform with westerns expectation of left-to-right reading. And my main concern with the show is obviously Minnie May.

Fans will be delighted to see Rally May Becky and most of the other regulars of Gunsmith Cats. New characters are introduced often enough to keep things interesting but infrequently enough that I could actually keep track of them. In the dangerous suburbs of Chicago skilled bounty hunters Irene Rally Vincent and Minnie May Hopkins run Gunsmith Cats a firearms store of questionable legality.

Gunsmith Cats the OAV is based on Sonoda Kenichis manga series but is even better. Gunsmith Cats is one of the best action manga you can find on the North American market as well as one of my personal favorites. Rally also works as a bounty hunter assisted by May which is the impetus.
